The gear casing is nodular cast iron also called spherdoidal graphite iron with properties
between cast iron & steel. |

|
Gear casing cast iron used is grading 400/12 where 400 N/mm2 is the tensile strength & 12% is the percentage elongation. |

Spline in the Gearbox conforms to DIN 5482. |

|
|
Lubricant recommended for Indian ambient temperature of 40 Deg centigrade is
Spartan Ep - 220 of Esso make or its equivalent 220 grade of some other make. |
|
|
|
Bearing grease should be MP-1 grade of AGMA i.e. Association of Grease Manufacturers. Permissible level of noise is 50 to 60 dB at a distance of 1 meter from the gear box. |
